Damo, that location looks pretty good. How did you find out about it?

Daniel, when is the Sigma 85/1.4 due? If the lenses are performing up to expectation, then doesn't matter who the manufacturer is right? :)

Can't wait till tomorrow :)

I just realised I now only have 1 Canon lens... I sold my 350D (with kit 18-55 and 28mm f/2.8 ) to a mate from work last week.

So now, my workhorse 24-70 and 70-200 are both Sigma, I have a Tokina 11-16 and my lowly Nifty Fifty carrying the flag for Canon... and chances are good that the next lens I get will be Sigma too: 85mm f/1.4 when it comes out (if it's as good as I think it will be).

Congrats on the gig.

How do you find the Tonika 11-16? I have a friend in the market for an UWA zoom for their 7D.

I have the toki and i thought it was soft 2.8@11mm. Got the 7D recently and have now microadjusted +7 and it's now effen sharp as!

EDIT: that may have sounded like I was blowing my own horn... just wanted to say it's a great lens :)

As if the waiting isn't bad enough. The lazy bastard couriers cbf dropping stuff off to peoples houses anymore =\

I hope the SA DHL people are better. I'd really like my S90 to arrive tomorrow. But I doubt it :(

Nothing wrong with that! I had my 24-70/70-200 L combo at the same time as a mate had the equivalent Sigma's (24-70 HSM too) and they were all as good as each other. I traded my 70-200 but if I purchase another one, it'll probably be a Sigma because it's cheaper and I know I'm not losing anything at all. Wouldn't mind the 85/1.4 either but it'll never be available at this rate

Ahh, them DHL drivers are terrible. The worst of the worst. Last year I had an urgent document sent over to my workplace and one of my colleagues was heading out when he saw a delivery slip with the time stamp 9:30AM. Everyone was at the office at 8AM and in the message, he said he rang the doorbell 3 times (wtfever: lazy arse).

So I called up DHL and killed the customer service because she was reluctant to help me out. In the end, she gave in and ordered the driver to return course and the parcel was in my hand 30 minutes later. Being lazy (the driver) is just sometimes not worth it not to mention, I don't pay 100AUD+ for crap service. Just not in my books.

I don't get their laziness. How hard is it to knock a couple of times and actually deliver the packages, rather than give their company a bad name, an even worse name, by lying?

Heya ozzies,

This is my first post on this forum btw, and i'm on the wrong thread already, since I'm not even australian....

but...I'm going on a 5-week campertrip along the eastcoast (from sydney to cairns-ish) and I'm hoping to capture some of australia's fantastic wildlife/nature (in my photo's ofcourse). I have already made a long list of all the National Parks I want to visit, but are there any places i really shouldn't miss photography-wise?

edit: think i should add that ill be travelling there from late july till early spetember (not the best period i know) and we'll have our own campervan, so we are pretty mobile / willing to travel

I got carded on Wednesday, waiting at home, went out for 1 minute on the back balcony to hand feed the wild kestral, bingo. At least it was the right time on the card. Unlucky timing.

BTW thanks Brenno, great bag and sweet lens.

@ Mol-Air It a big country, so you are best to talk to locals as you pass thru to find the really good spots, sometimes they aren't the typical postcard shots every tourist gets.

Exactly right. I was going to write that I'm sure complaining to the company does nothing because they'll pass it off as an isolated incident (when it isn't), or hope that fixing it within an hour of a call, as was mentioned, fixes everything.

It's fantastic - well mine is anyway!

It was razor sharp right out of the box and the constant 2.8 makes it very useful for music and nightclub shots where flash isn't possible.

I've never used the Sigma or Canon equivalents so I can't compare them, but the aperture was the primary consideration for me so I can't complain.

when your given 300 parcels to deliverin a day, and the company works out that they are only paying you X hours even if you work XX hours, you cant blame them. Some dudes will card 1 in 10 parcels.
Some courier companies get extra for redeliveries...
