@Phil,Dave and Damo thanks guys,yeah chemo is a bit tough on the body but when you get the big C you do whatever it takes. The oncologist is making up a new plan for the next three chemo sessions so as to hopefully avoid it happening again.
What I've got is prostate cancer which has escaped and is in my bones slowly eating them away. However with the treatment from some great Doctors we're keeping it in check so to speak although it is incurable we have slowed it down and we're hoping to slow it down some more with this current chemo routine.

If any of you guys are in the 45+age bracket get yourselves checked every year. I was 53 when I was first diagnosed back when it was considered an old mans disease. But they're finding more younger men with it now. If I'd been checked a few years earlier chances are that I could of beaten it. So forget about the slight embarassment of the digital exam and get the check if the GP you use tries to put you off insist on it being done. It could make the difference. Along with the digital exam they should also take some blood and check your PSA count(prostate specific antigens).

Best of luck for the future. Hope the next three sessions work as planned and everything goes well, John.

I honestly don't know what happened in the end. Who was real? Who was fake? Who died? Is George Clooney playing the lead in the movie? :lol:

I thought so. By the end of it, I sort of assumed there was a fake account or something in there. By the 10th page, I was just skimming through to look for posts by the OP and Joe/Kevin/Steve :lol:

@Phil,Dave and Damo thanks guys,..

You are a champ for opening up and sharing this with us John. I crusade for people to get checked for skin cancer, your story will end up well,... with me being end up and checked out with the Doc's digit :o so thanks.:):cool:

Sometimes you can't beat the bugger that is cancer so its like having an annoying wife/husband, you have to work out a way you both can live together and once you have worked that out life goes on, and on and on and on.. depending on how annoying the partner is!

After all the support you have given us all on this forum let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

I have the toki and i thought it was soft 2.8@11mm. Got the 7D recently and have now microadjusted +7 and it's now effen sharp as!

EDIT: that may have sounded like I was blowing my own horn... just wanted to say it's a great lens :)

Thats good info, esp since it will be used on a 7D.

It's fantastic - well mine is anyway!

It was razor sharp right out of the box and the constant 2.8 makes it very useful for music and nightclub shots where flash isn't possible.

I've never used the Sigma or Canon equivalents so I can't compare them, but the aperture was the primary consideration for me so I can't complain.

No CA, distortion etc not too bad? i think f.28 would be a handy feature for sure.

coalcliff wrote in post #10135445 (external link)
Dave, you needed a circular platypus filter, CPF, on that shot!;):lol:

oh :rolleyes: you crack me up Damo!

joele wrote in post #10136942 (external link)
I agree for day to day use, but I have one for some bad environments. Works well if most of your lenses use the same size filter, at least I just need one..

I already have some cute photos of my 2yo son with the 16-35 up real close and in a few he is touching (or almosst) the front element (filter) and glad it wasn't really the front element. (grotty little fingers ;-)a ) Seaspray is another situation that comes to mind..

I ditched the UV filter off my 16-35 after a few months of using it and realising that half of my outdoor shot were being ruined by flare from the filter. Its the work on the UWA for sure!

Don't worry about it. You'll get so many years of use from your equipment before anything bad like that happens. Just roll with it and wipe down your gear when you get back home. The images you capture are worth more than any lens ever will be.

BTW: Tax with my new 50mm 1.4 care of Bruce...on the beach, no hood, no filter. ;)

Agree, and nice Photo, looks like it will be a tidy lens.

Funniest part was reading the reactions of people who thought it was real, especially at the start, lol.

Tunnel Photo shoot confirmed for Wednesday with two models.

Meanwhile I wonder how Ed Hor is going, he was going to be shooting a bit at RAFW.

Heya ozzies,

This is my first post on this forum btw, and i'm on the wrong thread already, since I'm not even australian....

but...I'm going on a 5-week campertrip along the eastcoast (from sydney to cairns-ish) and I'm hoping to capture some of australia's fantastic wildlife/nature (in my photo's ofcourse). I have already made a long list of all the National Parks I want to visit, but are there any places i really shouldn't miss photography-wise?

edit: think i should add that ill be travelling there from late july till early spetember (not the best period i know) and we'll have our own campervan, so we are pretty mobile / willing to travel

Be alert for the One Eyed Trouser Snake and also if you're walking under gum trees at night, the Drop Bears can be killers.
Bunyips in the Billabongs and creeks are as dangerous as crocodiles too.

Yeah, drop bears are the worst. Haven't encountered too many down in Victoria but you'll have to watch out for them in Queensland.

I also heard that the Queensland drop bears dislike foreigners way more than locals. They can smell them a mile away!

@John .........

All the best mate, sounds like things are working out for you now !

@Everyone.....

What he said.....I've only had the "Finger" once, but I get the PSA checked reasonably regularly, over the last five checks it's been steady at about ±1 since I've been getting tested.

@Damo.........

True story, please feel free to use it......

Mate of mine, 33 years old, married, two young kids.

Got a rather nasty-looking "growth" on his calf.

Ever careful, he went to the Doc (at a specialised "Skin Cancer Clinic") to get it checked.

The Doc said it was nothing to be worried about. My mate told the Doc that he would be away from home for two or three months, and the Doc said that would be fine, he'd cut it off when my mate got back.

On his return, my mate went to the Doc, he cut it off, and said "That's the worse sort of skin cancer you can get, you're going to die shortly".

He did.

THIS IS A 100% TRUE STORY

Moral, If you're not happy with a lump / growth on you, get a second / third / fourth opinion.

In the training I do I have one (Powerpoint) slide with my mate showing a piece of equipment.

I always stop the class there and tell this story.

Austen.

I just want to take nice photographs of people.
