We went to the MCG last night for the Field of Women event and here's a few snaps. Unfortunately, our seating position meant we had goal-posts, in the way, but I have tried to do my best to work around them.

Awesome stuff mate!

All the time I have maintained as positive an outlook as you can and that with good Doctors I believe has got me this far and will see me through to 2030 at the least.

I'm walking but it may never be 100% what it used to be,got the walking stick.

That's the ticket John!

While we're talking cancer (fun topic !), excuse me while I chew some bandwidth. I posted this in OCAU, but will post it here too.

Thanks for watching.

Very well covered, and such a worthy cause too.

Thanks, guess I should fill in the rest of the story:

2001 initial diagnosis put on hormone treatment and in a letter from the specialist to my GP I was given two years to live. I said don't think so I've got retirement and a lot of living to do.

2003 retired age 55

2008 pain in upper back that required hospital and the heavy duty painkillers found to be tumor compressing spinal cord at the T4-5 veterbrae rushed to Royal Brisbane Hospital for emergency radiation therapy to shrink tumor. Was paraplegic for a month until the radiation treatment started to shrink the tumor.Taken off hormone treatment as it had become refractory.
This time was given only months to live. My reply don't think so.
Back to Gympie Hospital for rehab and was told might not walk again. My reply watch me.

2009 xmas, tumor on L1 veterbrae shrunk with radiation therapy.

2010 still here and fighting hard, now with chemo.

During all of this I tried the alternative remedies but found they didn't do much for me.
All the time I have maintained as positive an outlook as you can and that with good Doctors I believe has got me this far and will see me through to 2030 at the least.

I'm walking but it may never be 100% what it used to be,got the walking stick.

Again, all the best for the future. You've held up strong over the last 9 years, definitely not going anywhere soon!

For those who haven't heard about it, the idea is to get 14,100 people to form the shape of a lady on the ground at the G. 14,100 is the number of Australians who will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer this year. Most of them are in pink signifying women, but there were 100 or so in blue. These signify the males who will be diagnosed.

When you see what 14,100 people looks like, it kind of blows your mind to think that many people will hear those awful words this year. My wife was one of the 14,100 2 years ago this month.

Anyway, enough of me...here's the pics.

Nice shots! Seeing the images on TV, it looks big, but these photos just display it even more.

Thanks Al. I travelled light...1dMkII, 28-70, 70-200, 10-20 and used it all :p By crikey though, the damn bag was getting heavy by the time I had walked back to the car, which was parked up at the Museum in Carlton.

 1D2, 24-70 and 300/4 gets heavy walking around Etihad too, but I'll be doing it again today for the first Storm game at AAMI Park.

Why did you park all the way out there?

went to the endro ride and have given my self plenty to think about with the shots that I've taken but my day was made when I heard this comment - "Don't make a face , you don't know how big a lense he's got"

everything costs more or takes longer than you expect

It certainly was big. Seeing all those people and knowing what the number represented was kind of horrible and mind-blowing at the same time

Because I knew I'd get a park and wouldn't get tangled up in traffic getting in or out. Plus, I don't mind the walk and it kind of forces you to stretch the legs occasionally :D I always park there when I have a meeting in the city, as the walk there and back is mentally beneficial too.

I'm not usually lugging quite so much weight though...I might park closer next time if I am going to the MCG and have my kit..

@ Chris, don't ya love the power a SLR camera has over some people!!

Hey babes. Hope everyone has been good.

Anyone here got their hands on CS5 yet? If so, where? Just reformatted my hard disk and was wondering if I should hold off reinstalling CS4 if CS5 is already widely available. CitySoftware has it on pre-order status.. having claimed "Early May" for a little while now.

@ Col

Direct from adobe.com.au

Also available there, but you've got to look hard to find it, is the Students Version for ummm....I think it was $205.

As long as you (or kids / neighbour / friend / someone you know) goes (OR TEACHES) at school or Uni you are eligible.

IIRC they said delivery in 48 hours or so .....

Exactly right. That number of people is amazing to think of and see like that

Yeah, I don't mind the walk to the car sometimes. Depends if we won or lost and who I'm with

I didn't feel the weight as much this time, but I think I've got a few good shots 8) Tried out the 300/4 as a sports lens properly while we were kicking the footy, can't wait to use it in a proper match!

Thanks Austen. I've always bought the Student editions for Photoshop Extended so that was definitely the version I was looking at. I had been keen on CitySoftware as they've got it for $178 (with cheaper shipping). Not sure why, but CS5 has been the cheapest by far - CS4 cost me $268 and CS3 was $215 (both Student editions from CitySoftware). Exchange rate I guess.. :)

Just looked at the TV guide, it seems ABC2 have a few photo-related programs on tonight. Doesn't seem like it will interest me but for anyone else:

7.30pm: A profile of French photographer Yann Arthus Bertrand, famous for his series of books "Earth From Above".

8.18pm: Five acclaimed professional photographers give a truly intimate insight into their process and how it illuminates the human side of photography.

9.03pm: A musical journey for the 21st century, where the dark and moving images of photographer Bill Henson intersect with an extraordinary performance by the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
