Usually you have to have super dark skies so you can leave your shutter open for hours. With the method I'm using I can shoot 100 30 second exposures (50 minutes of frames) in fairly light-polluted areas and still get star trails. Now that I'm getting the hang of the technique, I can find more interesting places to take the photos. ![]()
