meaning someone is in the penalty box and so there's less team members on the ice? Or do they get to get the puck at a certain spot on the ice or?

Snowy night with cloudcover to reflect light back makes for a very bright night. Good night for a horseback ride. We are in the woods and then on a paved trail that is not lit but there are not cars or other people.

That's right. When a player recieves a penalty, and sent to the penalty box. Their team plays short for the length of the penalty (most are 2 minutes). That team playing short is on the penalty kill. The team with the advantage plays full strength until either the penalty expires, or they score a goal.

The only time the puck is spotted at center ice is for a penalty shot. Then it is a one time thing, the one shooter against the penalized teams goalie. A penalty shot is awarded when someone on a breakaway (going in with only the goalie in their way) is hauled down from behind.

Field Guides have been my friends for a long time. There are two by the patio window for just this reason. You should see me identify the song birds by their...well...songs. Drives Curt nuts, though I think he finally recognizes a Cardinal when he hears one.

To my friends to the north east you have a serious storm forming. We do too but ours will be mostly wind damage. You guys up there are slated for lots of snow with the wind.

I"ve already closed work by 1 tomorrow and if the commute is as bad as they are predicting in the AM we might not even open! they upped our amounts to 12-18 inches.
