I'll give you guys a basic idea of the day:

Even though Connor, Capri, and Chelsea were running as strays for over 2 weeks, found tied to a fire hydrant by a woman who took them in, who tried to find their owners for a few days with no results.. even though when she called us and asked if we could take them, and when we did we called all the shelters to see if anyone had reported them missing, with no luck... even after adopting Chelsea to a family in Pasadena, and having people who were seriously interested in Capri and Connor.....

their original owner called us this morning. A friend of hers had heard that we had her dogs, and contacted her.

She said that she's filed a civil suit against us for having her dogs.

We tried everything possible to see if there was some way legally that we could keep this dogs, but came up empty handed. Legally, we have to return these dogs to a life of backyard breeding/puppy mill crap and there is nothing we can do about it. *sob*

She agreed (after much talking) to let us buy Chelsea, because we'd already found her a home.
So at least Chelsea is out of that horrid situation, and on her way to a good home. But the pain we are experiencing at having to return Connor and Capri to her is indescribable.

Wow, tragedy at sea world...

I think I heard on the news that that particular whale has been involved in the death of 5 people. They had orders to not get into the tank with it.

Are the dogs chipped? If not then they are not her dogs. Tell her to take a long walk off of a short bridge.

In all seriousness maybe animal control will get involved and take the dogs given the situation.

Tspin is running around the house with his stuffed raccoon in his mouth, moaning and carrying on...

And besides I seriously doubt she would/could fill a civil suit. Unless the attorney is her husband or the dogs are priceless no attorney in the world would touch that. If you haven't been served that tell her to not let the door hit her on the way out.

Ick, don't you think it would be terrible if someone came and took those poor dogs from Cat's house in the middle of the night?

Trust me, we exhausted all possible avenues.
We have to return them.

We even considered (seriously) letting her take us to court.

We would lose.
And the results would be devastating to HART.
If we were restricted, or shut down, thousands of dogs lives would be affected.
