I am going for the most diverse Saturday morning award:
  • Got up at 06:00hrs to take dog out for short walk to do what is necessary
  • Fed dog and cats
  • Made tea and crumpets and took to wife in bed
  • Showered and headed off in the tipping rain for a training session with Harley (her first work since she was spayed 2 weeks ago)
  • Had a great hour with Sit, Stay and Recalls. Retrieves and persevered with some off lead heel work (she is great when dragging a long lead but as soon as the weight is gone she thinks she can be too!)
  • Fed 4 huge round bails of silage to the cows.
  • Played midwife to a struggling heifer
  • Ear tagged 3 new calves
  • Castrated a 3 day old bull calf
  • Came home and made a bacon sandwich

who says the life of corporate general manager is boring :-)

What a day!

And not only did I get my wish to meet Wally, he is now our newest foster.

So I'm off to learn how to communicate with a deaf dog.

What a day!

Morning, the afternoon was spent watching England getting beaten by Ireland in the 6 Nations Rugby.

Oh, it just occurred to me.

This might be karma for decaffeinating that poor bull calf this morning. 'Tis a terrible thing to do to a young feller.

That is farm life not corporate life. It is nice you do both.

Meet the new neighbors.

Wonderful

What kind of birds? They look a little like the Sparrows we get around here, except for the red. The Sparrows are more commonly know as "flying mice" at the zoo...

I wish we had deer in our back yard. I guess we'll have to be content with Hummingbirds, possums and skunks...

House finches most likely.

T.D. wrote in post #9694053 (external link)
They're either House Finches or Purple Finches. I can never tell them apart.

Nice feast, Becky!

Until you see them together and realize how much more color purple finches have.

Very few people correctly guess my heritage. Most people can't even figure out where my last name came from, even though it's very common in the country where my grandparents emigrated from...

I think my dogs have kennel cough. ughhhh So do I only take them to the vet if it gets really bad? I've read some on the internet about it. Alot of sites say that it will go away on it's own.
