it will take a normal f to EOS adapter yes

From what i heard when i was considering one, a converted Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 is a better lens..but a harder one to convert...

I had it for a while...some like the bokeh over the 1.4, but I did not think it worth the difference ($250) between it and the 50/1.4 ais...
But if you NEED that extra half-stop then, well, ya gotta have it...just be aware that the depth of field/focus is razer thin, so you've got to be "spot on" with your focusing...
Enjoy...

I owned it. It has a very unique bokeh which is a nice draw. The nikon camp says "oh yes it's sharp at 1.2". I shoot nikon LOL but it is not very sharp at 1.2. Not IMO. However it is a nice lens. It wasn't useful to me and if I hadn't needed the cash to replace it with the sigma (which is sharp at 1.4) I would have kept it.

bokeh example (this is also shot at 1.2...but the bokeh is a good example of the kind of bokeh this lens produces)

1.2 example (it's fine but not crisp)

only asking cos they seem to go for the same price, and "1.2" rings high, guess its one of those "L" damages...

It sells high because for Nikon its the only f/1.2 lens they have ;)

As for it versus the Zeiss....Personally, I'd get a good ZE 50mm f/1.4 over the converted Nikkor because its more usable, No stop down aperture, full metering support, AF confirm and everything built in...

But have you tried the Sigma 50mm f/1.4? Its sharper than either of those wide open [Its probubly the best out there, if its a good copy] and it has autofocus...

I agree with this. If you can get one that doesn't misfocus. I owned the zeiss 85 1.4 as well and did not like it's wide open performance. The 50 1.4 is very similar. The 50F2 is very good though, but much more expensive.

have you considered the nikon 35 1.4 ais? I kept that one. It's VERY nice at 1.4.
