Jan 22, 2010 17:44 | #3 I had it for a while...some like the bokeh over the 1.4, but I did not think it worth the difference ($250) between it and the 50/1.4 ais... The nikon camp says "oh yes it's sharp at 1.2". I shoot nikon LOL but it is not very sharp at 1.2. Not IMO. However it is a nice lens. It wasn't useful to me and if I hadn't needed the cash to replace it with the sigma (which is sharp at 1.4) I would have kept it. 1.2 example (it's fine but not crisp) .. But have you tried the Sigma 50mm f/1.4? Its sharper than either of those wide open [Its probubly the best out there, if its a good copy] and it has autofocus... I agree with this. If you can get one that doesn't misfocus. I owned the zeiss 85 1.4 as well and did not like it's wide open performance. The 50 1.4 is very similar. The 50F2 is very good though, but much more expensive. .. It's Permie's world, we just live in it! ~CDS
