I stumbled on to this guy one day, I took a ton of pictures while he was on the ground - then he jumped about 6 feet into a nearby tree.

To be that close to nature and able to enjoy it and photograph it so beautifully, you two really are "Living the Dream", IMO! Keep at it, and hope to see more from you in POTN. btw, there's no EXIF available, but can you say which lens/body combo you prefer? Cheers, Simon EDIT: Just spotted in the "Grizzly" section a pic of your gear....600L plus 1D3 by any chance? Canon 1D Mark IV / Canon 500mm f4

Although it's a while off as I type this, I'm beginning the research into the 500L v 600L for Japanese wildlife - maybe next year if things work out.... Although it's a while off as I type this, I'm beginning the research into the 500L v 600L for Japanese wildlife - maybe next year if things work out.... So, have you tried the 600? If so, is that extra 100mm worth the extra weight and cost? I've read that the 500L has modest pincushion distortion leading to better results on a 1-series body......any thoughts you can share on the subject? I planned on purchasing the 600mmL instead of the 500mmL, but after trying both, I changed my mind. The 600 was heavier and bulkier - it was hard to hand hold. I can handhold the 500 with some success. Personally, I believe the 500 is the best choice for wildlife.
