Setting up a small studio on a budget

It was in a small room (about 10'x10') with a 32watt flourecent ceiling light. there are windows on the walls back and right of the camera but i took it before we sleep so it was pretty dark outside. she's sitting 2 ft from the backdrop and i used a single 420 flash. the backdrop? i just got it from our local photo shop here in manila (philippines).:)

:) Thank you elr, I really like the look of the first picture! When you mention a flash, do you mean a light that is triggered to go off when you shoot your camera? Are you shooting with a digital? I just bought the canon 20D but don't have a cf card yet so I can't even use it! It's my first digital.

Yes, my Canon Speedlite 420ex mounted on the hot shoe of my camera. Flash head pointing to a 20"x30" white board.
