On my back to Cincinnati from Detroit, I stopped to gas up in Monroe, MI. While gassing up, I noticed that the wind was blowing the smoke from a smoke stack right through the uprights. I felt a B&W conversion would give this more of an industrial feel.

I like the B&W it does give it that dirty industrial feel
only thing i could say is maybe a bit of crop to get in there on the smoke stack

great pic

Thanks for the cropping suggestion. I toyed with trying that, but didn't go for it. Is this more like what you are suggesting?

Yeah thats what I was talking about. I think the bushes in the bottom of the picture gave it more of a basic shot from a distance look.
Good pic though!

just an idea:

i thought it would look cool maybe if you used a noise filter (yes, add noise!!) and the up the contrast quite a bit to give it a more dramatic look

just a thought!

Very cool shot - I like the second crop more myself. Reminds me of the cover of Animals (Pink Floyd (needs a flying pig of course)).

@ zwright: LOVE the film grain in it! exactly what I expected when I posted my message earlier. Framing is also better as far as the bushes are concerned; great idea!

I'd like to see that version without vignetting tho...
