Ok someone make me fill stupid please. I just switched from Aperture to LIghtroom about a month ago so I'm a little new to it. Anyway normally when I would hit edit in CS4 a dialogue box would come up and ask how I would like to handle the file. For example, Copy, Copy with Lightroom adjustment, etc. I am sure I changed something but it no longer asked me and just copies the original.

Please advise

See if you can go into Edit --> Preferences --> Presets

Maybe "Restore Export Presets" will work.

You can also see if everything is what you expect on the "External Editing" tab as well.

Well just tried the rest on the exports and that did not fix it. External tab is set how it was before this started happening. Man this is frustrating

OK just noticed that I get the dialogue box if the file is in tiff, but if it is in CR2 it just goes straight to PS

I have mine going straight to PS as PSD myself. It still prompts me with PSD.

If you export a CR2 to PS, it will always be converted. With a tif you can choose to either edit the original or a copy.
That's how it's supposed to work...
