Took a quick trip with my daughter to the San Diego Zoo this afternoon. I haven't been there and a while and I forgot how much walking/climbing is required!! Definitely worth the trip though!

Believe it or not its some sort of eagle....Maybe some of the bird folks can tell you as I was shooting pics and trying to keep up with my daughter at the same time.

I'm shooting a 1dMk2n with the 300 f2.8 IS.

really, that's what you are going with ? ......

Great Shots! What glass? Any settings to share? What kind of PP? Lots of questions, I know, but only because I love the pics.

I have been walking about my office all day long, just chuckling to my self about the eagle+owl bird. I will have to thank you for the humor of it. I should take your email home to my wife, she is far more of a birder and I'd have to stand behind your post and insist that she find out more about this very rare hybrid.

and no I don't think you are stupid

Thanks for the comments! Wish I could have taken more. The jaguar was amazing. We were walking by and he/she got up and walked straight toward us!!

I shot all the photos with a 300 f2.8

Jaguar was ISO 400, f2.8 and 1/2500

Eagle/owl was ISO 400, f2.8 and 1/500

the other two were ISO 400, f3.5 and 1/500

I did have alot of OOF shots due to the bars, glass and nets in front of the animals. I messed with some of the settings on the lens and got a few pics.

really like the jaguar portrait, I see you are using it at your avatar.

Harpys are impressive birds, I dont think they are that common even in zoos.

They are all wonderful. But where is your photo of the Panda?? ( I only say that because I love Pandas.) I want to go to San Diego just to take photos of them.
