Thank you. bw!

I wonder the same thing many times. People post pics of offices, hospitals, and other buildings that are just left behind as is. It's a dream come true for HDR.

For an HDR, you don't have enough depth. You need more exposures to bring out those completely dark areas.

I was thinking the same thing, there are no details in the shadows and the highlight areas are blown out.

I'll give you that for the first shot. Its a single shot HDR.

The second picture is a 5 stop HDR.

The third is a 7 stop HDR.

Regardless of how many stops of dynamic range or whatever you meant by that (I am guessing a seven exposure HDR? Seven stops of DR is less than a single frame holds, usually) the highlights and shadows are still clipped in those shots. Maybe there is info there from the HDR process, but it was not brought out in tone mapping, which defeats the point of doing that whole process to begin with.

As far as the shots are concerned...

Love love love the last one. Very moody. Slightly off balance with crop, which is good; it keeps it interesting, and not too easy for the eye. There is great texture and the water on the floor adds dimension to the room. I love what you did with the tones. Looks like an old silver-gelatin print. Awesome. :)

I like the first shot as well, interesting. The second shot does not do much for me. And now that I look closely, there is a SMIDGEON of detail in the bright window.

Where are you from? It is crazy you got baptized in that church! O.o

I am Henry. NOT Hank. And certainly not a length of rope tied in a knot. ;)

I'm from Detroit, MI.

The church has only been abandoned for 2 years. Its amazing how bad it has turned out in so little time. It was a very beautiful place many years ago.

The first shot is from an abandoned apartment building in Detroit.

Man, that is insane...just two years huh. Wow. I bet there are tons of cool abandoned buildings to explore in Detroit. Those are some damn cool environments. Nice job. :)
