I had the camera's ISO at 400 the other day and the camera said there was room for 38 more photos on the SD Card. Changing the ISO to 100 allowed for 41 photos to be taken. Why should that be the case?

Not sure why but my guess would be that higher ISO images contain more noise, and thus more information, than lower ISO pics. Dan

It can compress less with more noise (even lossless compression).
