Hi,
As my handle suggests, I'm a happy owner of a G9 camera. I spend a considerable amount of my downtime playing there with my friends in the G series POTN forum, participating in challenges and otherwise just mucking about.
As good as the G9 is, it does have its limitations, so I'm thinking of making a sizable jump to a more sizable camera, something that will address the limitations my current camera experiences. My son has a XTi and I can't say I'm too keen on that model, thinking I'd like to aim for something a couple steps further up, even if it were an older model. So... what could I aim at for $1-1.5k that would include at least one lens? And does buying such a camera present a problem in the future in terms of lens compatibility in the future?
I understand picture count gives the potential buyer a sense of how "used" a camera is, but does count equate to the odometer in a car? If I should be leary about buying a car with 150k miles on it, what is the threshold for a good dslr?
I'll shut up now and let the thread conversation take over.
