Please help me set up CS2 for my printer

I'm just getting familiar with PS CS2, Camera Raw, etc. and need some help setting up my Canon Selphy CP600 4x6 proof printer. The CP600 prints at 300 dpi with 256 levels of colors.

In PS under Edit -> Color Settings I have "North America General Purpose 2" selected, with sRGB as the working space. My camera (20D) is also set to sRGB.

Under Edit -> Assign Profile I have "Don't Color Manage This Document" selected

Under File -> Print with Preview I set Color Handling to "Let Printer Determine Colors" and have Rendering Intent set to "Relative Colorimetric"

For my workflow I take my Jpeg created from Camera Raw and first save it at full resolution (12) after tweaking it. After saving it I select Image -> Image size and with the three check boxes checked, set one of the dimensions (either 4" or 6"), keeping the resolution at my default 300 pixels/inch.

After resizing I go to File -> Print with Preview, set my orientation, check the Scale to Fit Media checkbox and print.

Do I have anything set wrong, or are any of my steps messed up?

I don't have a Selphy CP600 but I know this much " let printer determine colors" is not correct. You're asking the printer to color your picture according to its own interpetation after you just finish correcting it. That doesn't make sense. From what I have read, Use a custom profile for your printer if available if not use the default profile available. set printer if possible to make no adjustments or use ICM profile.

Unfortunately no ICC profile is available for this printer. Hmmm, in the CS2 manual it says to let the application determine colors when printing when you have a custom ICC profile, otherwise let the printer determine colors since it will have a profile built into its driver.

Also, all of the profiles that I find on the net seem to be for ink-jet printers. Are they not required for dye subs?

See what happens when I get Info from Photoshop CS for Dummies. I guess it sounds good. Only thing to do is burn of some prints and see which works. If you are willing to spend money and have a scanner and really want a profile you can get the ColorVision Spyder2Plus. It will calibrate your display, scanner and printer as well as any paper stock you want to use.

Just curious what made you buy a Sublim printer. The epson is faster last longer and more color accurate and cost less per print.

Prints from the Selphy CP600 are archival for 100 years, are completely waterproof, have excellent color/clarity ... as good as any inkjet I've seen, even epson, no nozzles to clog, easy to use, reasonable price/print when you buy in bulk and each print takes only 63 seconds/print which is pretty fast for a proof printer (Epson is 75 seconds).

Thanks for the recommendation about using a Spyder ... I need to get one anyway and it's good to know that it can be used for more things than my monitor.

Would it be worthwhile to pay the $50 and get a custom ICC profile made for my CP600?
