I had to shoot with what the weather gave me because I wasn't going to miss this rare bird.

Interesting airframe. Looks like it's an "older" model and it also looks like the fuse is stretched.

Nice work under (I assume) less than ideal conditions.

Weather was really bad, skies were about 2000 OVC with light snow, and winds were gusting to 20 kts...

I really didn't know much about civilian C-130's or that they even existed until stumbling upon this aircraft a few months ago as it crossed my path on flightaware. Something about an N number with a C130 designation next to it caught my eye

With the L-100's, there were three variants and only 114 delivered. The L-100 was the production model, L-100-20 was 8 feet longer, and L-100-30 was an additional 6 feet more than the 20.

Nice, considering.

Weather was really bad, skies were about 2000 OVC with light snow,

At least it gave you a fairly clean background! ;)

Nice catch. Their web site has a neat video on what they do.

Looks like they're flying relief flights to Haiti now.

Nice! It looks like once you locked up focus you just hammered that bad boy as it looks like you got one shot at getting your shots! It does looks really long compaired to the ones I've seen fly into Buckley AFB a few years back.

Check out this image of a C-130 dropping flares, HOLY COW!
