I took these photos of my first Saw-Whet owl early last month on Amherst Island on Lake Ontario.

It was pretty exciting to finally see one of these little fellows. I just wish that I had not used as much fill flash.

Wonderful shots of the tiny owl...... I have never seen this owl in my forest without darkened conditions, so if that is the case here, it worked well.

Thanks Stan, Jim, DB, Paul and Mr Bass.

DB you may be abel to tell from the first photo but this owl was sheltering under a larger branch on this Jack Pine. It was a cold overcast day with light freezing rain at the time. Fortunately the branch it was perched on was fairly un-obstructed if you stood in just one spot.
