Hi,

I am about to have a small photoshoot this weekend. There will be four parties involved (Models, Makeup Artist, Hair and Dress Artist, and myself (photog). It is a TFCD photoshoot. I will provide other parties with a CD of images for them to use. I have a release form that I will have the models sign. With this form they release all rights to these images to me. My questions are:

- Since models release their rights on the images, how do I give them rights to use images in their portfolios, website etc.
- How do I give similar rights to the makeup and hair artists?

Do I need additional forms for these?

Thanks.

Sorry, I am not in London and have no idea out there how this works but i would not have conflicting release agreements. Yours releases all rights to you.
I personally have a form that I can selectively release certain rights to both parties on the images and use a standard Model Release. My Model release allows me to authorize other parties to use the models likeness.

I am still a bit confused. My release form does give me all rights and leaves the model with no rights. It also allows me to use these images as I wish (including giving them to third parties). I can use these rights to let others use these images. Question comes when I need to give models some rights so that they are use these images in their portfolios. Do I create a second agreement just to give them permissions? And perhaps a similar one so that other artists can use them for their portfolios?

Again, I am referring to my area and it may be totally different in London.
It is 2 different release forms.
You own the rights to your image.
Your model owns the right to their likeness.
Your model releases the rights to use his/her likeness in your images for whatever purpose you agree upon.
You release the images you capture to the model/make up artist for whatever purpose you agree upon.
My image release specifies what purpose they are allowed to use the images (advertising, printing, website) and for what length of time they can. It also specifies what sort of modification if any I will allow to done to the images.
My model release States :
For valuable consideration, I hereby irrevocably consent to and authorize the use and reproduction by you, or anyone authorized by you, of any and all photographs which you have this day taken of me, negative or positive, proofs of which are hereto attached, for any purpose whatsoever, without further compensation to me. All negatives, positives, files, together with the prints shall constitute your property, solely and completely.

Thank you Zagiace. Would you happen to have a link to a sample of the "limited" release form?

in uk you own copyright straight of so can do what you like with them (with in reason) a model release is only required if your going to sell them
If i send images to models or other partys i enclose a word document in the cd covering the fact it was a tfcd shoot, no one paid any thing and the images are for portfolio use only or what other uses you all agree on i also now use light scribe discs and print on front of disc what the enclosed images may be used for

Canon EOS 20D/500d

28-135mm f3.8/5.6 ASPHERICAL MACRO
EF 75-300mm f4/5.6 USM MK3

Thank you Red Dragon. This is a great idea about adding a document along with images on the CD.
