For those of you who have either the pro speed belt or the steroid speed belt, how to you find the sizing matching up against the measurements on their website?

:) I'm thinking of getting one of their belts (either the pro speed or steroid, I like what I've heard/seen about the steroid but haven't decided conclusively) to use with the cotton carrier system, plus getting a couple of their belt bags down the line to put bulky items like lenses in. According to their website and my measurement I'm in one of those in-between sizes that is right at the max for one belt and right at the minimum size for the next size bigger. So curious as to what those of you who have them have discovered as far as how close their sizing is to what they say.

Ideally I'd like to get the smaller sized belt, maybe it'd give me some incentive to lose some of my gut :lol:.

The same thing happened to me. I ordered my belt too big ,I got large and needed medium. I gave Think Tank a call and they told me to return it with a note saying what size I needed. With me sending back and receiving a new one was about a week.
They have great customer service ! and if you call them you get to talk to a real person.Since then I have ordered many times from them without a problem.

So was the one you received back just the next size smaller or did they do something else? :) I may have to contact them just to see what they say.

It was the next size smaller (medium instead of large) I couldn't adjust it (large) any tighter and it was falling down from my waist. The medium I have now can be adjusted out and it keeps it tight enough from falling down. If you will be carrying a lot of lenses or weight I would recommend the pixel racing harness as well.

Thank you. :)

The harness is one of the things I've been looking at for the future. Not really planning on getting it right away as to start I'll be mostly using the belt for the cotton carrier holster system and then I have a cheapie knock-off brand belt bag I'll probably put on it. However sometime down the line I'll be getting a couple of their belt-bags to carry lenses, flash, clamp - stuff that is bulky or heavy that doesn't ride all that well in my POTN vest.

I bought the TTP Steroid Speed belt in Small-Medium which is said to be for 27"-34" waists. I measured myself a 32". When I adjusted it, I definitely had more than 1" on each end for extra length (I figure that there was about 2" on each end).

You can read more about my setup here: http://www.ocabj.net/?p=611 (external link)

That said, since you are inbetween two belt ranges, I would probably opt for the smaller of the two options.

I would recommend the pixel racing harness as well.

I'll second the harness! I spent the day at the auto races and walked all over the track with a few lenses in the belt and kept laughing at my buddy that had a backpack as he would put the backpack down, open it, change lenses, close the backpack, pick the backpack up and put it on (repeat 1000 times).

Nothing beats using one of the belt systems with the racing harness. I would order the smaller size if you are an "inbetween" size. Backpack for hiking, and the belt system for the sports I shoot.

Thanks y'all, I think I might order the smaller belt today. :) I've been looking for a system like this for a while. Started out with a pack, it was nice, could pack quite a bit with me, lots of pockets to put things in, but always the problem that everything is in the pack where can't get to it. POTN vest was better but have the problem certain items like heavier lenses aren't all that comfortable to carry all day in it. Ocabj's blog post turned me onto the belts which I'm sold on. Should be a lot nicer to work all day out of.

If you live where it's both hot and cold, consider getting two belts. A larger one for outside your coat can be very handy. Version II of the Pixel Racing Harness (current version) has clasps at all connection points, so that swapping to larger or smaller belt is a cinch. The older version's rear fixing was looped through the belt and a hassle to put on in the first place, let alone remove and reattach it.

Hot and cold? Nah, its cold and snowy here year round :D (Ok, I exaggerate a little bit. Its only snowy 10 months out of the year....most years). I'm like a polar bear though, I only ever wear a light jacket no matter how cold it gets. I'll have to keep that in mind though, hadn't thought of getting two belts.

Ordered the steroid speed belt yesterday, hopefully it should get here next week sometime. The harness is definitely something I'm looking at for down the line. Yesterday was hard enough on my wallet as it was .

I'd say get the smaller one as well, I got the large before going to Grand Tetons (thinking I'd need to put it over a heavy shirt or coat) it was still too big. Had to keep tugging it up, lucky for me, the Moose weren't in too big a hurry the week I was there... I still liked using it though

I have the Steroid Speed Belt V2.0, the Pro Speed Belt V1.0, the Pixel Racing Harness V2.0 and the Cotton Carrier Side Holster.

Both belt sizes where perfect for me and I chose them using the info on their site, it is very accurate.

What I don't like about the V2.0 belts is the new adjusting system and that metal thing they put before the bucle... it sucks BIG TIME! I'd rather have the V1.0, definitely!
