Either way, I guess they can come up with an idea that works but the cost to pull it off isn't really feasible. The patent prevents the competition from beating them to the punch and buys them some time to find a more cost effective way of doing it.......I guess.... _______________

IS lens might not work because the pins to power the lens are missing. Also, seems to me the gyro is in the lens anyway, not the camera. Dave

Canon's IS circuitry and other stuff is all in the lens except for the DC power source (the camera's battery) and the "go" signal that is derived from a half-press of the shutter release button.
