I am looking for a lock box to store equipment in my trunk. I don't know if anyone makes what I am looking for. Steel box with lock (combination would be my choice) that can be bolted to the floor of the trunk of a car to lock up equipment while th acar is parked. If anyone know of such a device please post your source. Most of the things I have found so far are locking tool boxes for trucks/vans and are too large for a car trunk. Thanks

If you're not too concerned with looks, you might try an army surplus store. They sell various sizes of old ammo boxes that are very strong and should do the trick and they are usually pretty cheap. I plan to get one for the back of my Jeep and attach it to the tie downs in the floor of the cargo section using a u-bolt or eye-bolt. A few dollars for a can of paint and it should look decent.

A very simple solution: Make a trip to home depot or the like and pick up whatever size cheapo metal tool box you'd like. They have a variety of sizes and they are inexpensive. Also pickup a nice padlock for said tool box. When you get home, pick an apporopraite place in your trunk for the toolbox, and check underneath the vehicle for fuel line and electrical wiring. Usina a few 1"+ drywall or selftapping screws, mount it securely to the floor of your trunk and presto, instant vehicle safe. So long is it is padlocked, anyone that wants in can do nothing but bend it. Pry bars and hacksaws will be rendered useless with it mounted down. I use three toolboxes mounted this way for securing firearms to and from training classes.

Most of them are too small, would like something that my backpack full of equipment will fit easily into. Basically it would need to hold a carry-on sized bag. So far the closest thing I have found is a Weatherguard Filebox for a full sized van and it is $ 208.00, but will fit and can hold my backpack.

Just buy a Pellican case with the proper dividers and bolt it in. You can use whatever locks you want.
