Outside my main website (photographing families, kids, pets and dancers) I have also had the opportunity to photograph the local fetish and kink community.

With the individuals permission, I'm wanting to host these online, but obviously keep them isolated from my main website / company name - while also putting them somewhere reputable.

Any recommendations? I'd like it to be a free location to start (I've looked into Smugmug, but not prepared to pay for it yet - this may not go anywhere).

If you really want to offer two very different portfolios you may want to consider a business website for all ages and one specifically tuned for adults. Websites are cheap to run once the initial development costs are taken care of.

Thanks - I'm not quite at the stage I want to push this as a business and setup a site for it - more get them online and show them to people who may be interested in doing a similar shoot.

I'd just throw them up on Flickr, but it's a bit too social for something like this, I don't want to deal with the comments that would crop up constantly.

You've already got your own website, so you can easily buy a second domain name, point it to a sub-folder on your host and bingo you have a separate site. Only cost is the domain name which is cheap enough. Depending on how adult the images are you may want to consider a warning splash screen.

Whether you can host adult images in your current hosting account is something that you need to find out before trying it or you can find your whole site shutdown without warning. It is against the TOS for many web hosts.

I've looked into Smugmug, but not prepared to pay for it yet - this may not go anywhere.

To quote Don MacAskill (CEO of SmugMug), "I'm afraid if you're a nude photographer, SmugMug isn't the place for you. We're a family safe site, and we will ask you to take down any photos that violate our terms of use." That comment was made in 2007, so their policy may have changed since then...

SmugMug's terms of use prohibit "User Content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, sexually suggestive, harassing, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable or harmful, including without limitation photographs or other User Content containing nudity that would be unacceptable in a public museum where minors visit;

So I guess that answers your question, antitera.

Thanks - I've found a location for them for now. There is nothing pornographic in their nature, just "adult".
