I just received my order from photo walser, http://www.foto-walser.biz/shop/default.aspx (external link) The english version of the site is great, and I'm in no way affiliated with them.

I bought 180 euro worth of stuff, two stands with casters, and a boom arm with boom clamp. I checked out the light stands from Calumet in this price range and they were pretty dinky, you had to go up to around the 120 euro per stand (with no wheels or boom) to get sturdiness. I was then expecting to get really cheap stuff at 40 euro per stand. Then it arrived and these are insanely sturdy. No wobble, air cushioned, tight locking metal nuts. I got the 806 model, one pro and one normal (didn't know there was a difference when ordering, but the pro model comes with the boom and it's a tiny bit nicer) They came with simple carrying bags which was a nice touch.

Overall I was super impressed, these might not be C-stands, but they are close. The boom arm will be fine for my quadra and normal umbrellas, probably even the softlighter II 60" if I don't extend both boom arms and just use one. It supports the quadra plus barndoors quite stably all the way extended with just the stock weight on the end. It's even got ridges that prevent it from being able to rotate. Tons of nice little touches.

So yeah, A+ service from foto walser, they answered all my emails prompty, and A+ products from Walimex.

May be ok for those on the Euro, but this is $105. USD. and that's not even the Elinchrom brand. The Elinchrom item is $90. here.

It's probably quite cheap for those on the Euro though.

That's an interesting piece though. I wonder if it's glass or plastic.

I don't really know about their lighting mods, I have only purchased their stands.

Be careful with Foto-Walser. Several years ago I tried purchasing a lens from them on eBay. Although I paid for the lens I didn't receive it in spite of numerous attempts to get sense out of them. In the end I got some of the money back from eBay (the protection on eBay wasn't as good then as it is now). For myself I wouldn't do business with them again but your experience may be different.
