Saw this one this am in morning sun before the clouds rolled in. Distant shot with the 400 5.6, hand-held. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, I had to photoshop out a metal farm gate behind him/her. But I thought that was what it was.

Great shot! A rare opportunity to have one pose like this.

This actually looks more like the Red Wolf, which is found mostly near the Great Smokies. I am not an expert on these animals, but you should consider sending this picture to your state wildlife board or someone better qualified at identifying this.

No kidding! Do coyotes have yellow eyes? Because this one definitely did.
And I am a LONG way from the Smokies...

I might have let my imagination run a little too wild.

The remaining wild wolves only survive in north-eastern North Carolina. You might still want to have the picture checked out just in case. You never know... ;-)a

I just read that the wolf's head is wider and they have the white on the muzzle. You may be right! Wouldn't that be something?

Thanks, Sharon! He didn't linger long so I got about 8 shots off before he hid.

A very healthy looking coyote. Great capture, Karen.

Here's a red wolf.
