Some may find this amusing but I have a question of Op/Tech straps. I recently received two straps in a trade with another photographer. When I opened the box I was surprised to see FOUR straps with two sets of attachment hardware.

Since each pair of straps is exactly the same in length, dimensions, etc., I'm curious how they are assembled and used. Can someone explain?

Do you mean there are 4 sections with plastic clips one end and a nylon loop the other and 2 sections of rubber neck pads with plastic clips at each end?

The nylon loops attach to the camera at the strap mounting points by pushing the loop through the metal and then push the rest of the strap through that loop. Then clip the rubber section to the bits you just attached to the camera et voila!

Thanks Mike,

Actually I received 2 "sections with plastic clips one end and a nylon loop the other and 2 sections of rubber neck pads with plastic clips at each end."

That's what puzzled me since I don't see the utility of a mismatched number of clips and straps. I thought I was missing something. Does Op/Tech sell these straps in pairs?

Not usually - the chap you got it from must have had a spare middle section.

See here for more info (and they have a guide to attaching the strap): http://www.procameragear.com …/cPath/30/products_id/141 (external link)

Thank again, Mike.

Here's what I received....by my count that's four individual straps and two sets of attachments (one isn't pictured). It confused me since he said he was including TWO Optech straps. The attachment loops don't fit the lower two straps so I guess I'll have to figure out the hardware needed from the Op/Tech website.
