I hope i have put this thread in the correct place ..... if not apologies :-)

I am looking to do a 360 pano of the inside of a building i designed but i don't have a pano head for the tripod, just a normal slick tripod. i know about the issues of parallax but i dont have time to make a camera mount or the ££££ to buy one ATM and the building will have patients in it from Monday and restricted for photography due to the patient type.

I will be taking -2, 0 +2 exposures and allowing for at least 25% overlap to previous photo but can anyone tell me if I should bother to try without the correct camera mount.

Will the photos still give "reasonable" 360 pano or not and if so what things should i look out for.

Ps I need to shoot the photos tomorrow morning !!!!!

Thanks

Andy

Why do you need a 360 would you not be best served breaking it up, surely the distortion would render the shot useless?
As for exposures you want a range due to light variations but CS3/4 is good at balancing out some differences here is a quick tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGA_y15pU5w (external link)
Also use portrait orientation or better yet, several passes at different heights for vertical overlap.
Not sure what else to say, i am sure someone else will come in with advice.
Good luck, btw what is the building?

btw what is the building?

It is phase 1 of a mental health unit i have designed and photography of this units when they have patient in is obviously a big NO NO.... by the time the main unit opens in august i should have a proper head for the job :D

Why do you need a 360... ?

I would like to use it to demonstrate to other clients a different way of viewing the design process. we have used it quite successfully with computer rendered 360 panos of buildings before they are built but i would like to build up a portfolio of 360 Panos of actual built facilities. it will be excellent as part of the marketing / interview process we go through.

Cheers

Andy

We see 360 panos in mock ups as part of planning applications and i have to say they give little indication to us, anything more than 180 for me is a little confusing. I would try a variation and see what looks best. Dont forget the wider you got the narrower the height will become.
