Was driving down the Colonial Parkway on Saturday with my wife when we saw this RTH sitting in a "tree"(not sure what sorta bush/tree that is in pic 1)...the wind was whipping off the river so he was continually swaying just enough to make taking his pic a bit of a challenge...

Here is where he started out (sun was behind me) and it took forever to get this pic because he kept looking the other direction.

Then he swooped down to the ground...I expected he was about to pounce on whatever it was that he was looking at and for...but he must need glasses because he came away empty handed...

So after coming up empty handed it was time for him to take off...so unhappy that I didn't get a good shot of this...

Then he landed in this pine and forced me to shoot him in a back-lit situation :(

I think #4 is my fav. Interesting BG in 2 & 3, looks like heat mirage rising from the asphalt roadway.

I like #4 the best, I like to see these type of hunting / behavior shots that are shot in the wild under natural conditions.

Well done but I'm going against the grain and picking the first as the favourite!

there was a road between the shot and the BG but it was a very cold day...blustery too so I don't really know why the bokeh looks like it does...normally it is much creamier (or so I think)

I like #4 a ton too...just wish the lighting was better...or maybe it is my post processing skills

Eagle I you really got him (her?) out in the open.

Since you indicate "Image Editing OK" I've taken the liberty to adjust the gamma correction and contrast on your backit image. There's no colour left in the sky but you can clearly see the bird now.

If your original is in RAW format you should be able to recover even more details than I did.
