Looks like one of those new fangled remote controls with the charger base. Perhaps one of the Logitech Harmony ones?

Biometric reader as in like a fingerprint scanner.

Its concave, black and plastic. I'm still thinking those are battery charger terminals. Are we close?

I'm wondering if they are the electrical contacts that rely on the presence of a finger to make the circuit and enable the device. Not sure what they would be in though. Some kind of heart rate monitor?

Well since I guess it isnt a biometric reader as of your responce to it how about the clasp on a portable USB mouse to attach the mouse to the USB connector.
