I have a few minutes tonight! So, I'm working up an idea. Look in about an hour.

For the next macro, see the attachment.

Hint: I prefer maguro.

Hmm, I was fairly confident on chopstick. It looks like wood, but may be machined metal. It also looks slightly rounded. Its a, umm, yeah.

looks more like machined metal to me, note the lack of 'grain' in the indents.

My first guess would be that it is actually the inside of the form. If you flip it over that would be the mold used to prepare maguro?

Or...a rice mold?

Definitely machined metal.
Not Pliers.
Using molds is cheating. http://www.sushimagic.com/ (external link)

All on the right track.

It's the first, and the last tool I use in the preparation.

it is the blade of the knife, those scallops prevent food like tomatoes or meat from sticking to the blade. they relieve the vaccuum and let the food fall away.

Ok. I know you said that using the forms would be cheating, but...the little bowl you put the rice in. If it isn't a mold, what would you call it? hmm Probably still not the right answer though! LOL
