The white blocks are grains of salt. This was taken with my Canon 100mm macro, a full set of Kenko extension tubes an a reversed 50mm lens.

I took this for the last macro competition, but never got around to pp'ing it well.

It pretty much is. It's a real pain to focus too. The DOF is less than a grain of salt... literally. I had to focus-stack to get the whole grain.

Not really useful in the field, but an interesting experiment nonetheless.
