Just a question for those of you who do a lot of location shots... more for those of you who shoot in old abandoned buildings and what not...

how do you find those places. I never get such luck with finding any that are easy to enter. Do you ask permission or just ignore the no tresspassing signs?

I've got some stuff coming up that I need to find locations for and I have a few old closed down places but the no tresspassing and barbed wire are kinda keeping me away.

do i look up the owner and ask permission or just sneak in...

oooh, what to do... what to do...

One of the guys in the SE UK section of potn is a frequent urban explorer (username vmlopes) and he ignores the no trespassing signs. He comes close to getting caught out by security on occasion but his shots of abandoned buildings and asylums are terrific. You could try to ask permission though - you might get lucky.

Hey Mike, thanks for pointing me over here.............as your in the Sates things regarding trespassing etc. may be slightly different than over here in the UK.........

I would have a quick read up on the Opacity, Urban Exploration Resource and Deggi5 forums as they are US based, and will be more relevant.

If you want any help with anything else, taking shots, kit etc. just shout and I'll try to help

I have shot on an abandoned movie set once which was situated on an indian res. First of all we couldn't be on the res since we're not indians so we had to be sneaky..lol :)) you can see photos here (external link) and here (external link) if you like. Almost got caught by cops but were ok..:)) Another time I did ignore the no transpassing sign (private property) but the location (external link) was too good to pass on...:)) That's how I roll though and by no means do I say that's how you should do it..Have fun! :)

PS I have friends in Greensboro, NC...:)
