Oh this will be paired with the 1D MarkIII (just bought)

I think if you're standing right on the baseline, you'd prefer the slightly wider 85.

Cant help with locaction one in Canada, but I regularly see them for sale in the $325-$350 range on fredmiranda or KEH.COM.

In the last 2 weeks i spent 7k on photo gear... I'm in unveristy... I'm seriously done... maybe a 40D for a backup body in may or june and a 24-105 lens during august... But i'm done for now...

Having a second body is great for indoor sports because it allows you to use fast aperture primes instead of depending on zooms to cover the different focal lengths needed. But I'd recommend a used 1D series. Once you get used to the Mk III a lesser camera won't be very much fun. The 24-70 is the only zoom, and the only f2.8 glass for that matter, that I find usable for HS basketball.
