Not quite your motor racing but action involved.
there were some amazing old tractors taking part in the event,
the idea is to see who gets the furthest along the track towing a sled that is set up to put more and more weight on as the tractor moves forward.
I've seen this with modern machinery in the past but not with vintage tractors.

Very interesting images. I don't recognize any of those tractor models. I'm familiar with the sport, I've heard it refered to as the worlds heaviest motorsport! Where was that pull? I'm definately gonna have to dig out some of my images.

I enjoy an "honest" tractor pull. These are obviously right out of the field. The pros will shave down the tire lugs to almost nothing because otherwise they just bend on the hard dirt and don't grip very well. The strategy generally comes down to gear selection and weight distribution.

Any info on th makes/models of these tractors? We don't see machines like that here in the states.

Thank you all for the comments.

The event was near a town called Abergavenny. Monmouthshire .South Wales.
I just thought it might be a different type of action to put up on here.
OK its not high speed thrills and yet still provides some good images.
all the machinery was in vintage or classic and was part of a large display, yesterday.

A few more for you.

Great shots!

I really enjoy seeing these old tractors pulling the sleigh.

Most likely this is how the sport started.

Best regards,
Andy

Andy
Many thanks for the nice comments.
I think the nice thing about these old tractors is the fact that many have been restored and saved from a scrap yard, most looked imaculate and yet all seemed happy to compete in the tractor pull event, amazing what power some had.

I really love the shots of the Nuffield belching smoke ... looks like a steam tractor.

Also, you can clearly judge from the look on the fans' faces, the suspense was most likely hard to beat

Thanks for sharing!

Best regards,
Andy

I've been enjoying your images. I showed them to my father, an avid tractor puller. His observation was quite good. The fan's of the events pretty much dress and look the same on both sides of the Atlantic.

Quadphoto
Thanks for the info and the 2 pictures are great.

Andy
Thanks for your comments, I also like the belching smoke, adds a bit more interest, and shows its really working hard.

JBillings
Glad you and your father enjoyed my shots, it was only a small local show but was interesting to watch, both my mate quadphoto and I took some candids as there were some great characters about.
the candid of the farmers is taken by my mate "Quadphoto"

Cheers
Martin
