What's the deal with their stock? Even the 12-24 II is out of stock everywhere now. Have they gone out of business or did they just decide to stop manufacturing lenses? When would they start making more again?

I'm not really sure if anyone can help answer, but I can't possibly be the only one wondering what's up.

They're in business, they're making lenses, they're just too popular and can't keep up with demand! No worries unless you don't have your lens yet of course... Call around, shop around, there are some in stock if you really hunt for them. They (THK parent company) are announcing new products as recently as January 20th so they're around.

When I decided I needed the 11x16 2.8 I couldn't find one. I called THK and they said a shipment should hit around Xmas and yes they supplied both B&H and Adorama with inventory. I went w/Adorama because they allow you to pre purchase an item and not charge your c'card until the item is in and shipped. In my case I don't think the quantity they received lasted 24 hours but the brown truck delivered one of them to me in 5 days. So if you're sure you need it maybe that's the way to go. fwiw

Like many other manufacturers (Canon included), they probably have cut back production and staffing in view of the global economic downturn.

A couple days ago B&H had some in stock.. but they were gone pretty quick. And since Adorama hasn't had them in stock for awhile, they might have some soon? Just pre-order with them and you might get one soon, you can always cancel if you find another somewhere else?

They had the 11-16 in stock last night, actually. Sold out within hours. Unfortunately I've already spent my camera money for a while, so I couldn't buy one.

Check the used market for them. Craiglist, ebay, forums. The 11-16 is a hot item.

Also 11-16mm are being bought to be converted to PL mount for use on digital video cameras, so a very popular lens.

I just read that the 11-16 is about to be released in Sony-mount -their first lens in Sony-mount ever it seems, so maybe there's more of them coming soon and maybe that also explains the shortage of these lenses in Canon-mount?

My local store here in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada has some Canon mount in stock but can't keep the Nikon mount on the shelf. Even with the Nikon 14-24 available, the Nikonians love this lens too. Now Sony too and the manual aperture conversion? Glad I have mine already, I smell price increase...
