So my 580 is acting up. Right after i turn it on light turns green, i fire a shot, and it works fine for that first shot. After that though no red light or green light comes on and eventually it will just shut itself off. I tried putting brand new batteries in it, and tried it off and on camera with the same results. Any suggestions??

Now it will only turn green/red when on camera, off the camera nothing happens.

I would try another set of new batteries. What you're experiencing usually happens when there's not enough juice left in the batteries. With fully charged batteries, the ready light should light up red after a few seconds without lighting up green. The only time I've seen my flashes light up green before lighting up red was when the batteries were running low.

Sounds like battery issues to me as well... try another set of batteries.

I agree with everyone else here. I remember the first time my batteries went that is exactly what happened. I sure hope the solution is that easy of a fix for you to!

Also try a pencil eraser on the contacts. I have had to due that on mine. Electrical contact cleaner on a Q tip helps too (radio shaq sells a detox kit or something like that name). I even use the eraser on my rechargeable batteries.
