I was out tonight to do some landscape images since the moonlight was excellent.
Then the northern light decided to show up :) And it was moving fast!
This is taken with ISO 800@2.5s and f/3.5 with my trusty Canon 10-22@10mm

Nice shot and I am very jealous that you got to see it first person.

Just book your ticket and go somewhere above the Arctic circle :)
It was pure luck that the northern light showed up. We where at a place where the wind didn't take. So it was nice outside even at -10C

Brilliant, one of the best shots I've seen on this forum. Thanks for sharing and I'm very envious, almost the colour of the lights. :D

Thank you. The full moon always helps to light up the landscape and the clouds

I wonder what molecule creates the white light...red/purple is nitrogen and oxygen, I know that.
But white?

Beautiful nonetheless.

I don't know. But this one was moving so fast so that might be the reason. This is only a 2.5s exposure so it could be the speed and that the sensor is not able to capture everything and just leaves it white?
When you look at it, it doesn't look white. But then again the sensor is able to capture what is not visible for the eye.

This one is very moody/eerie for me. Think it's the clouds. Really appealing. For some reason it's making me think of one of the night scenes in the 3D game MechWarrior 4.
