Something different, rubbish or interesting ?

Having a play around with some images... this is a matmos led lightball, artistic or pants ? dont hold back

Well... I dont think its rubbish. It looks cool.

Nice idea. Out of focus...either that or blurry.

May be it should a bit blurry for the effect...

I have just taken up photography as a pastime and know very little (I am, shall we say, at the bottom of my learning curve). That being said, I like this shot and would happily hang a print of it on my wall.

I think if the hands would be more in focus, it would be better. Neat idea!

I like the idea, agreed that it would look better if the hands were in focus.

Thanks for the nice comments and crit in the original the hands are a bit sharper and I can see what your all saying, it would make it better if they were in focus. The shot was actually a by-product of another shot I was doing, making a 3d effect in 2d by having the glowing ball really sharp and the hands oof to give depth, I saw some potential in this one, but wasnt sure, its hard to be objective of your own stuff sometimes

Will give that idea another go i think, it seems to have potential

I like the first shot... but the blur doesn't do it for me. the second one is nice, but the ball looks somewhat "fake" to me.

the first was after some PP, but the second is jpeg straight out of the camera, the ball is on a tripod, camera on timer release, focussed on the ball to get it sharp, hit release and move round to position myself, which is why the first shot isnt focused on my hands, I was trying to create a 3d sort of effect originally.. I agree though, it does look faked, I could have done that easilly enough, but that would have been cheating for the comp it was taken for

The feedback has been good though, the first shot is something I am going to do again with better focus on my hands (actually I think its shake more than focus as it was a slow shutter (ball on battery only) and I had trouble getting into place and staying very still)

Crop the second image to a pan type view and it would be perfect

Sure, I had to dial in the exposure so the ball wasnt just overexposed, I wanted its edges sharp to get the 3d effect, the hotspots are the led's inside the ball. When I get round to trying again with the ball in my hands I wil let it overexpose a bit to give it the glow you mean.

Yeah, cutting out my face would definately improve the image lol.. Thats why i stay behind the lens usually

I think adding a little bit more of your face would add to the "crazy magician" kinda of effect.
