I'm going through a large batch of photos from yesterday that I'm trying to get the color right. Shot with 40D in AWB and spot metering. It was a sunny day, but the skiers were in the shade, ground is covered with snow, so I expect everything to have a blue shade, but I don't think I'm getting it right. Maybe someone can tweak it better? I'm trying to go by face color, but understand that it's 22F and they are going 55mph off the jump so their skin is cold (blue? ;) ). The sun is rather low (2pm in Northern Michigan) and from the right.

Shot in RAW -> TIFF 16bit -> PS CS3

Cropped, no other changes:

I think I'd just tweak the saturation down a bit, alter the WB and then pop out the colors of the skier a bit more. The sky is what the issue is here, I think.

Anyways, here's a quickie:

Have you tried the White Balance Dropper in ACR?

I'm not using Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) because it's too slow. I used Helicon Filter to convert RAW to TIFF, then straight to PHotoshop CS3.

OK, how about adding a Warming Filter (85) at about 50% density, then an auto-levels adjustment.

A quick WB alteration in ACR. I think I might have misunderstood though, are you intending for it to still have some blue tint?

Well, I'm looking for as close to realistic as possible.

I think that warming filter is just the ticket. I like your sky color better, but I'll play with that some more. THANKS! :D
