Next time, turn your flashes up, turn your ISO up, and bounce your flash off of the ceiling or a side wall. You might also want to open up your lens a little more for some background seperation. Good action though! Huh, didn't know it was rare to be able to use flashes in college games. Your right about the direct flash, i definitely need to bounce it next time. I just need to get some light stands or clamps to put the lights in a decent position. I was just using a tripod and the little floor stand that came with my 580. Good point about opening up, that gym is so cluttered and small it's hard to get good separation. Appreciate the advice, definitely helps! IG: @kjemery_photo

Im going to find out what my div 2 school says about strobes...my college basketball pictures might be getting better very soon.

He cant. He is at max shutter sync speed. He needs to open up more, raise his ISO and increase his flash power to compensate for his fast shutter! Slower shutter speeds will cause ghosting.

Let me know what you find out, im interested to hear. I've seen the local newspaper guy here at the games and he's strobed everytime. Last time he was even using his flash on camera and no one seemed to care. So idk, i guess it depends on the school?? IG: @kjemery_photo
