I like the cheerleader pictures (apart from gorgeous girls, they are nice and sharp), but your lens seems to be a bit soft/slow for the action shots.

Best regards,
Andy

Nice Byso! I went to see Warriors Vs. Eels the other week and the best shot I got was of the cheerleaders.

Shots don't seem to be in focus, what lens are you using, I think You could get a better subject for No1, Terry Hill doesn't help.

Thanks chaps i'm using a 90-300 usm II lense 4.5-5.6.

My only excuse is that it wasn't the best for lighting as it was overcast and Raining at times. But my lense is no 2.8L thats for sure.

I'd like some advice, I can buy the 70-200 4.0L for half the price of the 2.8L which one should I get? Obviously the 2.8L is better but will the 4.0 still give much better results?

Wow.. you got this close on a 300mm zoom ??

How close to the action were you ? What row were you sitting ? I use a 10x Optical zoom on a Canon S1 and don't even get close to that !

Go the doggies ! :p

Thanks Devil......boo the doggies :(

Because i'm using an SLR-digital its 1.6*300 which takes the zoom to 480mm

At Brookvale oval I sit at the fence. So I can get closer.

Oh I forgot about the DSLR 1.6x issue ! That's such a bonus.

I've been thinking about getting the 350D with a x-300mm lens but was worried it might be a bit short on the zoom (coming from an S1 10x optical). However, with the 1.6x factor I'm actually getting a stronger zoom (approx 2x optical extra I think).

How has the 90-300mm lens been for you ? I was considering getting the mark III of this lens or the 75-300 one for taking to Rugby games.

The lense id OK but as you can see from some posters comments it cerainly isn't an L lense. For night games under lights I'm using iso1600 and getting a shutter speed of 100 to 250. Not really that great, but adequate if you dont expect professional results. If so you'll need to go for a 70-200 2.8L with that I know someone who used iso400 in flood light conditions. Problem is its an expensive lense.

For the money the 90-300 is good value though. I'm fairly happy.

I have many more photos in a gallery in.
