Hello
I hava a 40D and I'm thinking of getting a backup body.
I'm debating on buying a used XSi or a 30D, they're both about the same price

Thanks

I would buy a 30D- the controls, ergonomics, batteries, cards, etc are all the same as the 40D's. With the XSi, you'd need new cards and batteries, not to mention the different controls, size, viewfinder, etc.

Seems to me that the 30d would be the better choice due to the control layout and feel of the camera, not much different than your 40d.

x2. Even consider the 20D as it is cheaper and same logic applies.

im going to be the third vote for the 30d. Although the resolution is less than the XSi and the 40d, the controls are the same and GREAT! The feel between the 30d and the 40d is also very similar. No choice here...30d!

Thanks, what about a 20D, as tkbslc said, it's cheaper... is the image quality the same as in the 30D though?

Same sensor and AF system. Tiny LCD, though.

30D. After using mine, I can't stand using my friend's XSi.

Spend a little more money and get the 30. The little LCD on the 20 isn't much.

Definitely go for the 30D over the Xsi. The XX series is much better than the Rebels in usability.
