Unfortunately I didn't get to Hampton Downs, But here's some shots from Pukekohe.

Only used DPP to colour balance (forgot to set camera to cloudy) and to resize.

Some nice clean shots.

I went to the Hampton round. Posted some pics up here a couple of weeks ago.

I hope you had as good at time as I did at the event.

I could not believe how friendly, nice and welcoming all the people were. Drivers, mechanics, officials and photographers.

Novice - So novice that I can learn from anyone even beginners

It's a Begg 018, a New Zealand built F5000 car based on the McLaren M23 design.

These are McLarens.

Thanks Dave. I remember your post, I was guttered I couldn't get to Hampton Downs. I haven't been there.

It's a totally different scene classic racing. Everyone is there to enjoy the cars and the day, not trying to win a world championship. Of course as soon as the drivers hit the track it's still a race :D

I had a great day. I'll never forget going over the track on the bridge while the Formula 500's were out. My ears are still ringing! :D

LOL. To be honest, half the cars I took pics of I didn't know what they were. Luckily my father-in-law was telling me what they were. If it was a Japanese classic meet, that would have been a different story. :D

This Mini Special was having a good day out there.

precisely why I bought a programme when I went on Saturday! :D

great to see postings from the weekend (& the previous weekend...)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Many thanks for the photos of the McLarens. The Marlboro M26, in the shot with Denny Hulme`s Yardley behind, any idea where this car came from? I don`t think it resides in NZ.
Fantastic shots! Wish I was home to attend the meeting!

The #66 CanAm car you posted, apparently it was found in a restaurant here in Tokyo. The car was owned by the Japanese mafia although when the boss passed away it was negotiated that it could be sold and thus it is now back out on the track. Story regarding the discovery of the car was in a paper in NZ around the time of the meeting.

Should have taken your flippers and snorkel with you from what I heard.

Mind you, Sunday wasn't much better. Funny how now I catch myself staring at all the pro photographers gear as they walk past now. It's like when you buy a new car, Suddenly everyone is driving the same car.

I can't wait for Paeroa.

Cheers
Blair

programme lists it as: #26 driver Frank Lyons (UK) 1976 McLaren M26 F1-1

presume this means it's a well travelled motor...

I had to be back home in time to put the kids to bed, so left at 4 and as soon as I left the carpark the heavens opened - not sure how many of the competitors had wet's but would have been pretty dicy given the amount of water that fell in about 10 minutes or so...

Not sure if he is a Ford tuner or not. But his company logo's are on it so, I guess he does.
Man, that thing sounded mean.
