Greetings

I have a 1D Mark IV and the rear display is dead. It almost appears as if it was turned off. Everything else on the camera seems to work fine just the rear display is dead. Is there some on off switch that I am unaware of. I am currently at a photo shoot and I assume the pictures I am taking are being written to the camera.

I have several years experience with Mark III camera bodies and I do know of a setting to completely turn of the LCD display. No matter which button I push the rear display is dead. All the other displays work fine

Thanks guys

On the 5DII there is an Info button on the left side of the display. Pressing it toggles it through three screen options, one of which is no display. That might be your problem with your MKIV.

Hummmm.... Heading home now and was planning on reading the manual one more time. I do not recall seeing that as an option......but let me check when I get there.

Hope it is just a setting!

Regardless, when you press the play button to review the images, you can still review the images.
I'd guess the LCD is toast unless this a RTFM moment, which I doubt.

I haven't come across any "no display" option on the 1D Mark II/III/IV.

Tried the info button and still no display.
The review button also does nothing. It might be a NRTFM problem as I am currently at an event in Hawaii :-)

If you can, get the card in a viewer to make sure images are being written. If they are, go on with the shoot. If not then pop the batteries dude! But be carefull of the spring loaded date/time battery.
Then off to Canon with her!

Sounds like a loose connector, or a failure...

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealing's done
