Anyone wear glasses whilst shooting and viewing their computer monitor?

I've just come back from the optometrist and I need at least reading glasses.

Do glasses effect your photography? Or is it something you just get used to and move on with?

I have 20/80

Just move on with it.

I think my bad vision helps me appreciate being able to see more.

Or somethin.

I hate wearing glasses. Once I started using contacts, I said goodbye to glasses forever.

I wear reading glasses and have just started needing a prescription for the computer as well. Aging sucks.

I put my glasses on to see the camera settings; take them off to take the photo; put them back on to view the image and/or change the settings; take them off to take another photo.

If anyone comes up with a 'cure' for presbyopia, he/she should get a medal.

My eyesight is pretty bad, to the point where I can't see anything clearly without having my glasses on or being really close up (I can see books and the camera LCD better without my glasses)
I just can't use a view finder with my glasses on though so I have had to adjust the little wheel next to the view finder to the point where no one else can see anything without changing it lol

This is most likely a dumb question, but would that change the image of the photo taken if you where manually focusing the lens?

If you use Live View to manually focus, you shouldn't have a problem. It takes the away the pain from actually putting your eye to the VF.

Nope.

I must be having either a mental block moment, an Alzheimer's moment or both trying to get my head around why it wouldn't.

I shoot with glasses on sometimes. They really don't bother me. You can also buy the apperoperate diopter.

I think because when you set the focus on the viewfinder... you first have to get the lens in focus on something... usually using the AF... so the camera knows it's in focus... you can spin the viewfinder adjustment as much as you want... and the camera is still in focus... so, you make it "blurry" so it's good for your eye, and you're adjusting to what you know is already in focus..

from that point on, even with manual focus, your eye's focus and the camera's focus will be in "sync" ...

I am betting you can get by without glasses if all your doctor said was that you needed reading glasses. Personally, I got by without a prescription for a long time by using very bright lights to read by, and I can still read the monitor just fine because it is a light source. I need glasses if it is dark and the print is small (restaraunt menu's), but I get away without them on computers, LCD's and luckily I can adjust the viewfinders on my cameras and they both have very bright viewfinders.
To answer your question, I wear prescription safety glasses all day long in my work, when I am reading and can't control the amount of light, and when I want the verilux feature when driving. Other than that, I use my computer, my cameras, my light table, basically all of my imaging work is done without the glasses.

I wear glasses for both as I have horrible vision 20/200. I wear my glasses to shoot with an oversized soft eyecup with the viewfinder diopter set at 0. I don't usually have many problems except in humid environments when the glasses fog up. Best of luck.
