Way cool video there Jason, plus some very nice images on your flickr set as well! Now to learn more about the time lapse trigger you have :)

James - a Canon TC-80N3 Timer / Remote is a simple way to put together time lapse videos (using the Interval Timer functions)

This is a great suggestion.

There are some aftermarket ones out there that I've had good results with. Jenis makes a battery grip / timer / IR remote combo that I used for my Rebel (since Canon doesn't have an IR trigger for that body).

I sent you a PM with some of the other brands out there. I am not aware of any company (Canon included) that makes one timer that would work for both of your cameras.

Jason (wanderlost) just created a time lapse at L&D 14 from his trip in late Jan. 2011. He gave me permission to add it to my first post to give others another taste of what it is like to visit this place.
Check it out:

Go check out his thread with some of the individual images he posted.

Maybe he will add some of his own comments about it here.

LOL I see my wife in the very last shot!

If it didn't go so fast you could see the big binos in there. I had to squint and speed my brain up to see them, but they're there.

Nice job Jason. The video gives you a great feel for being there.

Are these the large black binos you are talking about? :)

Look through them once and you'll see what the big deal is. Plus, in all the times I've been to the lock, nobody has had a pair that big.

So, blah, mine's bigger than yours is, mine's bigger than your is, neener neener neener.

You won't see anything that big and white, that's for sure. That's them in there, next to the chick with the white sunglasses.

Jason, what are the part numbers of the pieces you ordered from Ram Ball?

Go to www.ram-mount.com (external link) and click on the photography link. It's fairly intuitive, you just build it starting with the parts that touch your camera first. Most of the balls are 1/4 20 so they'll mount to your camera no problem.

I used the 1 inch balls, and built it with just one control arm. The suction cup is what I am using to mount to the vehicle. On glass / sheet metal, it is SUPER sturdy. I've driven my car with the camera mounted to glass and the sheet metal with out issue.

Here's the parts list:

RAM-B-202AU - Camera Mount
RAP-B-201U - Arm
RAM-B-224-1U - Suction Cup

Be sure that you buy the "unpackaged" copies, they have a retail (clam shell) version that is $2 more. Unless it's a gift, you don't need to spend the money. The "retail" price was $35 for the whole thing. Check Ebay or Amazon, too. PM me if you have any problems / questions. I can take some better shots of the system on my car tomorrow if you want. :)

Thanks Jason - Looks like a pretty good deal to me instead of using a beanbag out the car door window.

I hope some of you guys made it out there today. Some pretty sweet light and the winds were favorable. Man, I wish I was retired and could go out whenever I wanted to.
