Sucks...doesn't it?? Talk it up and when people actually go out you look like a fol because there's no eagles there.

Damn eagles...

The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked - Photographers shoot to thrill, not to kill

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.
You're a ghost driving a meat-coated skeleton made from stardust, riding a rock, hurtling through space. Fear Nothing!

My apologies, back to shooting after a day off I actually thought this was Monday. Shows how focused I am on shooting and need to come back down to earth. One more shooting day tomorrow (Monday) and then need to set my sights on the return trip home. Another beautiful day today with lots of unforgettable times with great friends I have met here. Filled one 16G card and partial of second with spectacular fishing shots. Everything happened between 4:00 and onward to dusk.

Ken, from what I've seen so far from your trip, it looks like you're able to hold your own pretty well. :)

This isn't what we usually go to L&D14 to photograph, but the eagle action was non-existent at this point in time.

Hey guys, it looks like a sub par season, still I'm itching to go and a spend a weekend at L&D 14.
Looking at the extended forecast for the quad cities I think perhaps the coming weekend would be good. From mid-week on it's mostly below freezing at night, barely above freezing during days and cold and sunny for the weekend.

I live in Toledo and would spend the weekend there.

My $64,000 question: is it worth it? Or is this season so bad that I shouldn't bother driving 7 hours (one way)?

I came on 3000 mile trip to be here and have not been disappointed one bit. Since it is all up to circumstances of nature, you certainly take your chances. Out of 7 days I am shooting here I would only call one a wash - and I used that day to do my wash:- )

It is nearing the end of the season. If I were you I would do it but be sure to stay at least a few days to even out your odds. Late in the day has been best shooting time so don't expect to be shooting all day.

My 2 cents.

Live web cam of an eagles nest. Last year they had 3 baby eagles hatch. It was pretty cool checking in on them.

Thank you Ken.
Interestingly, we just discovered the location of about 4-5 nests around Lake Erie near where I live (well, within 45 min). I may actually focus on those instead.

Sounds good in light of 14 hours of driving and no guarantee.
