I read sometimes here a write-up on how to tightened or adjust the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 when the part that hold the hood is loose.
Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I did this, and I broke the plastic ring that covers the screws while trying to put it back on. It doesn't snap back into place very easily.

Luckily, you can buy it from Tamron for $1.12 + $3 shipping....lol

Thanks guys. Operation successful, I did it, but it was hard getting the ring back on those little holes after tightening the nuts.

I did the same thing on my 17-50mm.. I never replaced the ring but painted to screws black with a Sharpie.. It looks kind of rough but once covered with a UV filter all is sweet..

I had no idea there was a fix for this. I bought my lens with this issue and I got it for significantly cheaper because of it. That makes me happy. Fixing it tonight! Thanks for this thread! People helping people.

I fixed mine too. But correct, the plastic ring is difficult to put back in place. But success eventually.

It seems to be a problem on 17-50mm only.. My four year old Tamron 28-75mm has never come lose.. I find this strange as the arrangement and hood are identical.. Maybe I'm just lucky..

I repaired my 17-50 as well, no real problems, but I did use lock-tite on the threads (the removable kind) to prevent it from happening again. I think it's caused by the torque applied when installing and removing the hood.
