So im starting to get into automotive photography and enjoy looking at all the beautiful cars that are posted on this forum. My question is where are you guys finding all these gorgeous cars?! Im starting to get tired of shooting my heap and want to work with some nicer cars. Im assuming alot are your friends cars. Also are alot of you getting paid to do these shoots? I thought about trying to contact some local car clubs or visit some automotive forums. Anyone done this?

I used to be in a car club so there was allways cool cars arround. But I have not been in one for about 12 years, but still know a few guys. I also go to car shows every now and then. I keep some cards in my pocket and ask owners of cars I like, if they are interested in loaning/renting the car for a shoot. Most say yes when they hear a model will be involved. I usually give them a poster as a thank you if they lend it to me, an 8X10 if I have to rent it.

There is also a used car lot in town that allways has something of intrest on the lot. Classic Porsche, old Vette, Viper, BMW M1...allways something to stur the imagination. I keep planing to go in and talk to the manager to ask about renting out the cars, but it is in a part of town I am not in very often and when I am, I never think to stop by.

I thought about trying to contact some local car clubs or visit some automotive forums.

That's a good place to start. Or ask at your local auto supply.
In the Summer here we get about 7 meets every evening of the week & every weekend.

It wouldn't hurt to say where you live? Maybe someone here is from there, too.

Use Google. Search for "car shows" and include the area where you're located. It actually can work.
